Kirumo's news, conflicts and commissions

Posted by KirumoKat - February 25th, 2022

Hello, folks. Unfortunately, I've come here today with rather bad news... I'll be going on a hiatus soon. I may pose myself as a soulless edgy robot in human disguise, but even I have to keep myself sane and get some offline time. And yes, thanks to the stress of the recent weeks in my life, I'm already tired, and due to the recent events, I've decided to cut myself off from social media, so, unfortunately, no more Twitter posts from me, not for a long while. DMs on Twitter would also not be read until I get back, either. Paint me ignorant if you want, but I can't support either side of the current conflict, though my personal view on this has proven to be socially unacceptable among people of 30 years and younger, and, just like many of you, I go online to like and share arts, and not for social media civil wars around someone's political views, not everyone finds it pleasant. Plus, I feel that this isn't an appropriate time to share new drawings from me, so instead, I'll cancel them all now and revisit them after the hiatus. For now, I believe I should instead take some offline time, work on stuff I should've been working on all this time so I won't return empty-handed, and just wait until this ends so I won't lose it again.

However, before I go on my hiatus, I have to open the Spring 2022 commission batch right now. The price list was never shared here on Newgrounds, but you can see it here, with the link to the form you'll have to fill. Currently, there are only 5 new slots open, besides the reserved ones, but in these newly opened slots, only animated commissions are acceptable. This is kind of an emergency, it's not something related to my health or bills, but my hardware is slowly dying after years of daily use (not without constant maintenance, of course), and I would appreciate your help with raising additional $300 or more to help me cover the cost of new parts) And so, I'm accepting commissions that you would like to get from me, both SFW and NSFW are allowed) I will open more if I don't have enough, though. And also, I might take random slots later whenever I would feel like it.

Now, I should explain something about my process on animated commissions. Usually, it goes like this: after reviewing your form and asking questions I could have, these commissions go through three major stages, layout, roughs, and finishing. Layouts are done first to determine the composition and character placement, usually, the most changes happen at this stage, as in changing of specified parts, redoing composition, and such. After the layout's approved, I do rough animation to determine how many drawings the animation would take. This is done so I could name the correct price, because $5,50 is only for one drawing. Let's say there's a 10-drawing loop spread across 20 or more frames in the timeline, with the base framerate of 24 frames per second. Such a loop with one character tends to cost only $55, however, with two characters, it's usually between $95 and $110, depending on complexity. The background usually adds $10 or $15 if it's not as simple as a gradient with some airbrushing. Additional small changes in repeating loops, like eye blinks, don't add to it, and reusing already drawn parts from other drawings usually lower the price, but partial payments and tips are always acceptable. When the roughs are approved, and the commission is fully paid for, I move on to finishing, which is cleanup, coloring, and compositing altogether. Usually, I do this immediately after it's paid, but this time, I might move on to the next commission's roughs until all are paid, but typically the cleanup only takes a few days, but it may be more, depending on my personal issues.

Well, that is basically it for today. I would always appreciate your support, and yet, at the moment, I would just have to silence myself after I'm done with these commissions. Even though I have muted the topics I didn't want to see on my timeline, I'm planning to stay away from there until these wars end, so I won't post anything on Twitter. And neither I would be able to read and reply to your Twitter DMs for the time being. Here on other platforms, that only depends on its content, there could be some things that I might not want to post here. However, if you commission something from me, you can always post them yourselves (but not on Newgrounds, you know their rules) and just tag me) But either way, after this batch, I would still have to silence myself mostly, and all you can do is just wish me luck. I hope I will be able to return after this break. And I wish you all luck, too)

P.S. I've decided to lift the Nintendo characters ban from my commissions. I don't think I can draw them on my own often enough since I can't find the appropriate situation or pose for one or choose a character, but if you'd like me to draw them in my style, feel free) On certain conditions, however: first, I won't do ferals or humans for... personal reasons, and second, they'll be off my Twitter even after I get back from my long break. Not a fan of getting a copyright strike anytime in the unforeseeable future, you know.
